Parish of Our Lady Star of the Sea

Every so often, the Westwood Roofing team has the pleasure of adding our workmanship to a masterfully handcrafted and historically significant building. Our most recent assignment, installing Welsh slate tiles over the Parish of Our Lady Star of the Sea located in Watsons Bay, is one of a handful of such buildings.

The parish is a landmark local building that has stood tall for over a hundred years. The slate tiles installed there over one hundred years ago have beared witness to the changes that have taken place, transforming Watsons Bay from a small fisherman’s village—through war and peace—into one of Sydney’s premier holiday destinations.

Church Slate Roofing
The Westwood Roofing team was approached by the Parish of Our Lady Star of the Sea, of the Catholic Church, to replace the original slate tiles that had protected the building for over a century. But more than that, Westwood Roofing was entrusted with producing a masterfully handcrafted Welsh slate roof to match the existing aesthetics of the building.

With the durability of slate tiles already proved in this historic building, here’s to knowing our slate tiles will bear witness to the next century of Australian history.
